A Clean Campaign

There are 10 days left in this campaign. Based on past evidence, I knew my opponent would attack me with her usual “she is unfit for the job” or "in the pocket of developers/special interests."

Unfortunately for her, I am a resident who didn't like the way our council majority was acting and became motivated enough to do something about it. And I encourage more residents to do the same, because we need more voices, not fewer! I began this campaign motivated to set a new tone for elected officials and politics in Redondo, and I have not changed. I am focused on the issues and how I can be a transparent and upstanding representative for all residents in my district, even ones who may not vote for me, because THAT is the job.

I have knocked on thousands of doors and I know there are many points of view in my district alone. We may not agree on everything, but we need the space for discussion to be heard. Your council representative should know there is not one resident voice or point of view, but many. We need elected officials who will hold that space no matter who voted for you and what their position is.

My opponent has praised me for running a clean campaign, which should not be the exception and in need of praise. But recently, she has chosen otherwise. As predicted, she has now created a false narrative in line with past tactics. I will respond, but not on social media, because it has become a divisive tool used to create mistrust, where it's easy to create faceless claims of doubt and endless arguments.

To the accusations that I accepted special interest money from a developer:

I have not accepted any donations to my campaign from developers. My donations are grass roots, small contributions from the community, friends and family. All my financial information is public and so is hers. You can find it here City of Redondo Beach (netfile.com).

A Political Action Committee (PAC) has apparently formed, suspected of supporting my campaign:

As my opponent is a political science major (aka “politician”), she knows full well, by law, that this has nothing to do with me or my campaign. What she isn't telling you is that special interest PACs have to date promoted her campaign in the amount of $3,907.23.

To the comment about my association with Mr. Shigenori Ezaki:

He is a close family friend and college teammate of my husband who purchased an apartment building in Valley Village.  He asked me to partner with him because of my past experience managing apartments, which is how I was able to stay home with my children while they were little. We have since sold the building. So, for anyone questioning my experience, I have also managed apartment buildings, giving me a unique perspective in the challenges of being a landlord and tenant.

Why didn't I start on a commission?

Participating in a commission, where an individual can now be removed at any point for having a difference of opinion per the council majority’s recent changes, does not sound democratic. I saw there was only one person running who shared the views of the council majority and I believe diversity of opinion is the basis of progress. Unfortunately, the toxic political environment has diminished the number of people willing to put themselves and their families in the spotlight, but I hope that changes. We don't need another councilmember who only echoes the voice of the other 4.

As always, if you have questions, you can reach me at my email (Paige4D3@gmail.com) or call/text (424) 234-1507.  I will respond regardless of if you agree with me or vote for me.
